The Gettysburg Brass Band Festival highlights the tradition of Brass Band.
Musicians from across the US in the Athena all-female Brass Band will join 16 bands from the District of Columbia and 7 states – Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia performing in our town, Gettysburg.
The 2021 brass festival will begin with Jazz Night Wednesday evening, June 9 on the Main Stage at the Lutheran Seminary with the The Gettysburg Big Band and the Foggy Bottom Whomp Stompers jazz band from Washington, DC.
Community Band Night, Thursday, June 10, will feature the Adams County Community Band and The Allentown Band, the oldest civilian band in the United States.
The Gettysburg Brass, Hot House Jazz Band, Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps, Antebellum Marine Band and others will perform Friday evening, June 11 at locations around the Borough of Gettysburg.
Starting at 11am on Saturday, June 12, the Benfield Brass from Maryland, the Imperial Brass from New Jersey, the Spires Brass Band(former NABBA Champion) from Maryland, the Chesapeake Brass Band(former NABBA Champion) from Delaware, the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble, the Atlantic Brass Band(2017 North American Brass Band Association Champion and US Open Champion) from New Jersey, the Brass of the Potomac from Virginia, the Old Crown Brass Band from Indiana and the Athena Brass Band will perform on the Main Stage on Seminary Ridge. Saturday’s performances conclude with the moving “Taps” Tribute as buglers bring honor at historic sites.
The Nation Capitol Band of the Salvation Army will perform on the Main Stage, Sunday, June 13 at 4pm.
This free event is organized by community volunteers in partnership with the Lutheran Seminary, Music Gettysburg! Concert Series, Gettysburg Times and Destination Gettysburg.
