Exploring the Property with Your Dog

Walking Trails: Enjoy 30 acres of nature preserve with beautiful trails perfect for long walks. Be prepared to encounter deer, squirrels, and other wildlife, as well as Pennsylvania’s summer ticks.
Dog Park & Off-Leash Play: Supervised off-leash play is allowed if your dog is comfortable with other guests, barn cats, and horses.

Guidelines for Dog Owners

Leash Policy: Dogs must be leashed outside of your room and supervised during off-leash play.
Behavior Expectations: Please ensure your dog is well-behaved and can handle an environment with children, other dogs, and various animals. If your dog has a history of aggression, we ask that you make alternative arrangements.
Clean-Up: Complimentary waste bags and outdoor waste cans are provided for easy clean-up.

Supplies Available: Dog towels and blankets are available at the front desk to help protect bedding and furniture. Let us know if you need anything else to make your stay more comfortable.

Battlefield Bed and Breakfast

Battlefield Bed and Breakfast’s property offers a wide range of dog friendly activities. Every morning you and your dog are invited to join the other inn guests for the 8 am Civil War history presentation and the 9 am breakfast. We offer dog friendly seating arrangements for our guests at breakfast. There are walking trails that run through the inn’s 30 acres of private battlefield land. The inn has also built a fenced-in dog play yard, where you can let your dog run around without the constraints of a leash. Battlefield Bed and Breakfast is dedicated to creating a dog friendly atmosphere where your dog is treated like a member of your family.

Gettysburg National Military Park

The Gettysburg Battlefield contains 1,300 monuments, markers, memorials, and plaques, and it is completely dog friendly. Paved roads and well-marked walking paths connect the magnificent sculptures all over the Battlefield. The Gettysburg Battlefield is a dog walker’s dream come true. The park is also over 9 square miles in size, which means there’s always plenty of new places to explore with your dog on a leash. The only limitations placed on dog owners is that dogs are not allowed inside any cemetery, building, or museum.

The Gettysburg Dog Park

Gettysburg has a fenced in park designed for dogs! The park is open from 6:00 AM to Sunset all year long. At the park, your dog can enjoy the freedom of being off of a leash, and you can relax knowing they are in a fenced-in dog friendly park. The park is located at 545 Long Lane, Gettysburg, PA 17325. The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg

The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg are a strip mall style shopping plaza with plenty of space for walking your dog around. Outdoor benches and outdoor access doors to restrooms make this a particularly dog friendly place to shop. Designer brand outlet stores include Under Armour, Brooks Brothers, Coach, Bass, Tommy Hilfiger, Eddie Bauer, Adidas, Harry & David, Talbots, Columbia Sportswear, and many more. Dog-Friendly Battlefield Tours

There are two different ways to tour the Gettysburg Battlefield and bring your dog along with you. You can reserve a tour with a Licensed Battlefield Guide by calling the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides. Licensed Battlefield Guides ride in your personal motor vehicle and give you a tour of the Battlefield. Tours can be set to a standard two hours or additional hours can be added to extend the length of the tour beyond two hours. You can also tell a Guide whether there is a specific area of focus that you would prefer them to focus the tour on. Another way to tour the battlefield with your dog is to pick up a free copy of the Gettysburg Auto Tour at the National Military Park Visitor’s Center. The Auto Tour brochure is also available online. With this guide you can drive from place to place at your own pace in your personal motor vehicle and learn the story of the Battle of Gettysburg.
